Hi Don

I've seen the links to ESGForum on the websites of both the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association and the Aloha International Steel Guitar Club. It will be great to develop a cooperation between afficianados here in Europe and across in the US.

From our end we will also be able to offer hawaiian music lovers and players a wider vista and a greater appreciation of the scope and reach of the music they love.

I have written to Gerald thanking him for creating the link on the HSGA website and I'll shortly will be making a link to the Aloha International Luau and Convention in July.

Mahalo for your efforts and good work.

James I removed your name from the Selection Committe when you resigned from it, so you do not have accesss to the ESGHoF section of this forum which is for the selection committee only. I think you may be confusing this with the European Steel Guitar Hall of Fame section which is open to all founder members and members of the ESGHall of Fame.

James

I see what you're getting at. The post you refer to has nothing to do with me, it was by Basil Henriques and the correct procedure is to pm him and ask him.

It was posted on 1 March 2009 and was perfectly correct at that time. In fact in your capacity as a committee member you actually nominated 2 people who were inducted in 2009.

Hello James, the post made by me gives you credit for many things, do you not wish to be remembered for your contributions ?

Also, I HAVE amended the post with the addendum "RESIGNED" at the end of the section that credits you with all the things we will remember you for.

It's hard to ignore you contribution to the French Steel Guitar fraternity, and whatever the ins and outs of it now, it will always be remembered as initially "Your Baby"...
I would be horrified if, having made a contribution such as yours, that it was erased from the annals, time-line and history of European Steel Guitar development.

I believe that the credit given you is well deserved and begs acknowledgement such as has been given.

James Schmitt (FR): Franco American has a deep knowledge of the contemporary steel guitar scene in France. He has run and administered the SteelGuitarFrance Forum since 2001, which has contributed to the current revival of the steel guitar in France. RESIGNED..

Hi Baz

I agree with your sentiments with respect to James' contribution to the steel guitar in France and Europe. I too am profoundly impressed with the foundations that he laid.

In addition, I am against altering or deleting the record in forums because we are left with an incomplete or revisionist history of the topic. It's the sort of thing associated with dictatorial regimes and rubs completely against the spirit and grain of these virtual communities. Of course I cannot stop contributors from removing or rewriting previous posts but it would be a pity, it distorts or destroys the record and can damage the forum beyond repair if carried out on a large enough scale.

Hope you and Pat enjoyed your well deserved holiday. I suppose the fish in the Dartmoor rivers escaped, as usual, your wormed hooks.

"Wormed Hooks" Be-dad !! I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dry Fly Chalk-stream Trout fisherman..Chest waders and a 6'6'' carbon Fibre/graphite compound rod and the Mitchell 'Automatic' reel plus every fly to "Match the Hatch".. and I caught a few 7" - 9" around a half pound each .. Very nice for breakfast, grilled with garlic butter.
Strange thing 'though, the river is stocked with Brown Trout, but the ones I caught were "North American Brook Trout." Pink flesh just a shade or two lighter than a Salmon in good condition.
I fished the River Teign as a member of the Upper Teign Fishing Association, just upstream from Fingle Bridge. (Quite deep pools and runs, NOT for the faint-hearted.)
